Eagle Creek Park

There’s something about golden hour, a blanket in the grass, and a bottle of wine that makes a couples session feel a little less like taking photos and a lot more like a date. (and I'm just creepin' in the back with my camera)

For this romantic couples session at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, we kept everything simple—a blanket spread across the grass, wine, apples, a beautiful flowy dress, and the prettiest golden evening light. The result was exactly what I love about couples photography: relaxed, romantic, and full of movement and genuine connection.

One lesson learned from this session: a corkscrew is officially being added to my camera bag. 😂 We had the wine, the apples, the blanket… and absolutely no way to open the bottle. Thankfully, Dan came to the rescue and somehow managed to get the cork out with a car key.

Photographer emergency kit = officially upgraded.

A Romantic Picnic Session at Eagle Creek Park

Eagle Creek Park is such a beautiful location for couples and engagement photos in Indianapolis. It's also great for family photos as well. Lots of space to run around and be free! While there are plenty of gorgeous areas throughout the park, sometimes you really don’t need much more than an open field and good light.

The tall grass and warm golden-hour glow created the dreamiest backdrop for this session. Adding a simple picnic gave them something to actually do together instead of feeling like they had to stand in front of the camera and pose the entire time.

They poured wine, relaxed on the blanket, shared apples, laughed together, and let the evening unfold naturally. Those little in-between moments are always some of my favorites to photograph.

Couples Photos That Feel Like You

I love creating sessions that have a little bit of a story behind them. A picnic, popping champagne, exploring somewhere together, or even just walking through a field can completely change the feeling of a session.

My approach to couples photography is a mixture of direction and candid moments. I’ll help you with where to stand and what to do when you need it, but I also want to give you room to interact with each other. The goal isn’t to create perfectly posed photographs—it’s to create beautiful images that still feel like you.

And a flowy dress at golden hour? Always a yes. The movement from the dress combined with the warm evening light gave this Eagle Creek session such a soft, romantic feel.
